Lighting the Path Through Education

“The seeking of knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim.” – Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Welcome to Afghan Relief’s Education Program

Education is not just a pathway to a brighter future; it’s the light that can eradicate the darkness of ignorance, poverty, and conflict. Afghan Relief’s Education Project aims to tackle the education crisis in Afghanistan head-on.

The State of Education in Afghanistan: By the Numbers

**Over 3.7 million children** are out of school, with 60% of them being girls.

**Only 66%** of Afghan males aged 15 and over are literate, and the rate for females is even lower at **29%**

**Less than 20%** of schools in Afghanistan have proper building structures. **1 in 4 schools** lacks safe drinking water, affecting children’s health and attendance.

These numbers paint a dire picture but also represent a call to action.

Why Education?

Education is more than a privilege; it’s a fundamental right that paves the way for individual and community growth. Islam encourages every individual (both boys and girls) to seek knowledge, making education not only a humanitarian duty but also an religious obligation.

Our Projects

Literacy and Basic Education

We aim to bring the literacy rate up among both children and adults, focusing on the most marginalized communities.

Vocational and Skills Training

We offer courses in various trades, equipping adults and older children for the job market. Some of these vocational projects include carpentry, phone repair and graphic design.

Science and Technology Education

With only a fraction of Afghan schools offering a quality science curriculum, our computer and STEM courses aim to bridge this gap.

Girls’ Education

Targeting the 60% of out-of-school children who are girls, our programs focus on creating a safe and encouraging environment for female education.

Tuition and Scholarships

We offer tuition assistance and scholarships to students in need, ensuring they have the chance to gain vital skills and an education.

Educational Infrastructure

We’re investing in the 80% of schools that lack proper classrooms and buildings, starting with the most underprivileged areas.
